Snow Runner
Snow Runner is a 2020 off-road simulation video game developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive. Snow Runner has the player control off-road vehicles as they traverse between locations to complete objectives. Following on from Spin tires and the sequel version Mud Runner, the game was announced as Mud Runner 2 in August 2018. Focus Home and Saber Interactive decided to re-reveal the title a year later as Snow Runner. The game features over 40 different vehicles and more than 15 sandbox locations.
Snow Runner is an off-roading open world simulation video game where the player's job is to deliver cargo to different places while driving over rough terrain. The game has a damage system similar to BeamNG.drive, in which there's both damage on the physical model and also damage shown through a UI. Each of the games regions is set after a various disaster has taken place, some being natural like floods, others being manmade like a pipeline breaking and vary from places like Michigan to Kola Peninsula. As the player progresses by doing certain missions, they earn money which can then be spent on a better vehicle, usually making it easier for the player to traverse the game's difficult terrain. Along the way the player may encounter optional timed missions in which the rewards for completion get better the faster the player completes them. Each region has its own "story" associated with it, usually involving the player fixing the damage caused by the disaster that occurred in the region. The game also features a mix of aesthetic and mechanical customizations, ranging from simply changing the color of the player's vehicle, to changing the kind of tires that are on the vehicle or installing a frame attachment. The mechanical changes usually help the player out in completing missions, however they will usually require the player to reach a certain level before being able to purchase and install them. The game has DLC that range from simple skin packs, to entire map expansions.
